The government has temporarily increased the amount of time employees can self certify for sickness to 28 days. This means you do not need a doctors note for the first 28 days of sickness.

This is a temporary measure to enable practices to focus on COVID-19 booster programme.  This means you will not need to call the practice for a sick note unless your illness has lasted more than 28 days or your sick note is long term.

This applies to absences beginning on or after 10 December 2021, up to and including absences which begin on or before 26th January 2022.

The self certification period will revert to seven days for absences beginning on or after 27 January 2022. For more Info Click HERE

If you are self-isolating and cannot work because of coronavirus (COVID-19) you can get an Isolation Note online from NHS 111. You do not have to go to your GP or a hospital.

If your employer does not have a self cert form you can download one here.

Please Do Not contact the practice to obtain a sick note if your period of sickness is between 10th December 2021 to 26th January 2022. You can self cert for 28 days.
