SCAM ALERT WARNING
A company called ‘SENIOR CARE’ is calling patients, claiming to be working with their GP team. The patients had said the caller started the conversation by asking if they had received their flu & shingles vaccinations & prompted them to book in. They later went on to discuss very generic health conditions or ailments common in elderly people (i.e., BP & arthritis) & asked what medication they were on for these conditions. The caller then attempted to sell the patient a medication named ‘Flexicare’ for £38 & had asked for bank details to complete the purchase. Fortunately, the patients who informed us of this then realised it was a scam & terminated the call, but it seems there’s an organised group going around using this same story as a scam.
If you receive such a call please end the call and inform GM Police via their scam action line: 0300 123 2040. The scammers have NOT obtained your information from the practice and are cold calling people. THE PRACTICE WOULD NEVER AND WILL NEVER TRY TO SELL YOU MEDICATION nor ask for your bank details.”
