Warm Weather – Stay Healthy

Stay Hydrated and Stay Well This Summer

As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember the simple steps that can help us stay healthy – and one of the most important is staying well hydrated.

Dehydration can affect anyone, but older adults, young children, and those living with long-term health conditions are particularly at risk. Even mild dehydration can lead to tiredness, headaches, confusion, and an increased risk of infection.

Top Tips to Stay Hydrated:

  • Don’t wait until you’re thirsty – by then you may already be dehydrated.
  • Aim to drink 6–8 drinks per day, unless your GP has advised otherwise.
  • Choose drinks you enjoy and are likely to finish.
  • Drink more in the morning if you’re concerned about getting up at night.

Staying hydrated helps your body function properly and can even help prevent infections.

If you or someone you know finds it difficult to stay hydrated, Age UK can help. They provide advice and support for older adults across Greater Manchester.
