Clinics & Services

Blood tests / Phlebotomy Clinics

We are able to take blood samples on-site.

Patients can make an appointment for the Phlebotomy Clinic by telephoning the booking hotline on 0161 934 8361.

The booking team will offer patients a choice of appointment at one of the Trafford blood testing clinics listed – click here.

All test results are reviewed by a GP who will contact patients with the results of any X-ray, test, or blood test where further action is required. Please note that due to the high volume of test results we receive, we do not contact patients where test results are normal and will inform you of the results at your next appointment.

Test results can be viewed online once you have registered for online services.

Blood Pressure Reading

Please use the Self Check BP machine while waiting to see GP/Nurse or to monitor your blood pressure if you have been advised to do so. Full explanatory notes for using the machine and what actions will be required depending on the reading are available with the machine.

Family Planning

Appointments can be made with any doctor for advice on, and management of, contraception. Once a method is established you are advised to have an annual check-up and a smear every three years. This can be booked with the doctor or the practice nurse.

Cervical Smears

Women aged 25-50 are advised to have a smear test every three years and those aged 50-65 every five years. Please get in touch with reception for an appointment with the practice nurse.

Minor Surgery

Minor skin surgery for skin cysts and warty legions that may be catching, bleeding, and causing symptoms. Minor surgical procedures are carried out at the surgery by Dr Reeves on a Thursday afternoon.

The surgery offers shingles, childhood, travel, and influenza vaccinations.

A flu vaccination is recommended each year in line with Department of Health guidelines. See here for more information from the NHS.

All childhood immunisations are carried out by the practice nurse and health visitor, supervised by a doctor. Clinics are held weekly on Fridays 13:30 – 14:30 by appointment. The immunisations which children require and further information can be found at: www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations

Joint Injections

Joint injections are for arthritic conditions, bursitis, and tendon problems. Please speak to our physiotherapists to access this service.

NHS Health Check

The NHS is offering free health checks to adults aged 40-74 once every five years.  The check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes.  If there are warning signs, then together we can do something about it.  There is good evidence that by taking early action you can improve your health and prevent the onset of these conditions.  If you are already diagnosed with a chronic disease then this check-up does not apply to you.

The check should take about 20-30 minutes and is based on straightforward questions and measurements such as age, sex, family history, height, weight, and blood pressure.  There will also be a simple blood test to measure your cholesterol level.

Over 75 Health Assessments

Patients Aged 75 And Over will be invited for a health assessment in the month of their 75th birthday. If you are housebound then arrangements can be made to visit you at home. We will endeavor to contact all patients over 75 who have not been seen every three years or you can make an appointment with our Health Care Assistant for a check-up if you have any concerns. GPs will recall patients who are on regular medication or with a chronic disease at regular intervals.
